Rabat – On August 3, the Moroccan women national team will lock horns with their Colombian counterparts, as part of the group stage matches of the Women’s World Cup 2023, hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
Perth Oval Stadium will be the destination of the game between Morocco and Colombia at 11 a.m. Moroccan Time.
It is worth noting that the first match day which brought Morocco together against Germany ended up with 6-0 in favor of the Mannschaft.
However, on the second match day, the Atlas Lionesses managed to catch up with the tournament events by beating South Korea 1-0.
As a result, Morocco are currently ranked third in the standings with 3 points, following Colombia which top the group with 6 points under their belt.
During the Morocco-Colombia pre-match conference, the national coach Reynald Pedros expected that the game will be “open” and the players will battle until the very end, in an effort to pull off a surprise.
It is to recall that Morocco’s participation in this worldly event is the first in history.
Their qualification came after a victory against Botswana (2-1) in the quarter-final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2022.
In this WAFCON, Morocco reached the finals against South Africa but did not manage to win the title. The match ended with a 2-1 score, granting the South African team their first ever African title.
