Rabat – Despite being in talks with PSG for a potential transfer to the French club in the current summer transfer window, Sevilla’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has reportedly been placed at the top of Bayern Munich’s wish list, according to the sports media outlet Footmercato.
The Italian club Inter Milan, who is in search of a new goalkeeper, is said to have set its sights on Yann Sommer, Bayern Munich’s Swiss keeper who came in to help out after Manuel Neuer’s serious injury last season.
While it remains unclear whether Neuer will soon return to his post, reports suggest that Bayern Munich are already looking for a second number 1 to fill the void in the goalkeeping void that Sommer’s departure will leave.
According to Footmercato’s reports, after having tried David Raya, Bayern Munich have entered the race for Sevilla’s goalkeeper Bounou, and things are reportedly progressing well between the two parties.
Negotiations between the two sides have begun as the Moroccan keeper is placed at the top of Bayern’s shopping list, reports have indicated.
With two years remaining on Bonou’s contract with Sevilla, the Spanish club is asking for around 20 million euros to release the Moroccan keeper. Reports suggest, however, that Bayern are still reluctant to spend this substantial sum on a second-choice keeper.
Bayern’s coach Thomas Tuchel has recently explained that Manuel Neuer will miss the start of the season once again.
While Yann Sommer is unwilling to take the risk of returning to the bench with Neuer’s return, Bounou is as interested in Bayern Munich as he was in PSG, who eventually recruited the promising Spanish keeper Arnau Ternas on July 30 for a three-year deal.
At the age of 32, Bounou, who shone at the last World Cup with Morocco and in last season’s Europa League with Sevilla, could be heading for a new challenge with Bayern, pending the expected return of Neuer.
