Rabat – Three Moroccan teachers are competing in the fourth edition of the “Mohammed bin Zayed Award for Best Teacher” in the UAE, being nominated among 25 teachers from 10 participating countries.
One of the contenders is Hasna Bouchaala, who specializes in personal development in the Arbaa Rasmouka Primary School in the town of Tiznit.
The other teacher is Amal Abu Muslim, teaching mathematics at the Oqba ibn Nafie School group in the Skhirat-Temara region near the capital Rabat.
The third contestant is Mustafa Ali Jalal, who teaches French at the Oulad Hammad School group in Taroudant.
The competition, which has a sum of money of AED 1 million (nearly MAD 2.8 million), has reached the voting stage, which represents 10% of the final results that will determine the winner.
Those wishing to vote can do so on the award’s website, by viewing videos of each teacher’s initiative, and voting for a single participant.
The voting campaign began on Monday September 25, and will end on Thursday, September 28 at noon UAE time.
Among the criteria specified in the award rules are excellence in achievement, creativity and innovation, sustainable development and education, positive citizenship, and loyalty.
The award will also consider national belonging, as well as community and professional leadership.
The participating teachers are evaluated in terms of individual achievements, including distinct initiatives, projects, and programs, as well as their impact on the school and the students.
