Marrakech – In an important diplomatic meeting, Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, welcomed Jochen Flasbarth, the German State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, in Rabat on Thursday.

The meeting, held in the Moroccan capital, came at a crucial time when the nation is grappling with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that left numerous victims and widespread destruction in its wake. Flasbarth conveyed his condolences to Bourita for the tragic loss of lives and offered Germany’s support for the reconstruction efforts.

“In Rabat, during a meeting with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, I expressed my condolences for the many victims of the earthquake. For reconstruction, we will identify together where we can provide rapid and effective support,” an official statement quoted the top German diplomat as saying.

The earthquake, which struck Morocco on September 8, has left a profound impact on the nation, requiring immediate and strategic efforts to rebuild and restore affected areas. The collaboration between Morocco and Germany on reconstruction projects is anticipated to be a significant step in aiding the affected regions and communities.

Foreign Minister Bourita expressed his gratitude for Germany’s support and solidarity during this difficult time for Morocco. He reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening ties with Germany and the European Union while emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges such as climate change, security, and sustainable development.
