Rabat – At least eight airports across France faced urgent evacuations today after security services received bomb alerts, French radio network France Info reported.
Among the affected airports were Lille, Lyon-Bron, Toulouse, Beauvais, Nantes, Biarritz, Pau, and Strasbourg.
Operations at some airports resumed after security services deemed the threats false. In Nice, Lyon-Bron, and Lille-Lesquin airports, security concerns were dispelled and operation resumed, FranceInfo quoted police sources as saying.
Videos circulating on social media captured the chaotic evacuations of passengers and airport staff from different airports.
These evacuations were prompted by suspicious packages, abandoned bags, or bomb alerts received by security services via email or their website.
Today’s incidents occurred amid France being on high alert due to a series of similar events. This week has witnessed a series of bomb alerts across various locations in the country.
Gambetta High School in Arras, located in northern France, was evacuated on Monday morning after police received a bomb threat on their website.

On Tuesday, French authorities evacuated the Palace of Versailles due to another bomb alert.
The heightened state of alert follows previous incidents on October 14, when both the Palace of Versailles and Paris Gare de Lyon train station, as well as the renowned Louvre museum, were evacuated due to false bomb alerts.
French authorities responded by heightening national security and deploying up to 7,000 soldiers across the country.
