Rabat – Israeli propaganda during the occupation forces’ aggression against Gaza has faced a significant setback with younger populations seeming more resistant to the occupation’s narrative, as indicated by a recent poll showcasing the strong perspective taken by the US’ Gen Z population on the devastating war against Palestinian civilians.

Israeli occupation forces continue their intensified aggression, murdering tens of thousands of civilians, including over 8,000 children since October 7.

The total death toll in Gaza and the occupied West Bank is alarmingly increasing amid international inaction and rejection of ceasefire resolutions. The US notably used its veto in the Security Council against texts aiming to end the devastating situation, which has also been marked with an impending famine and a healthcare crisis.

Despite all this, the Israeli government and media continue to promote a so-called self-proclaimed right to self-defense, especially on social media and the internet.

A poll conducted by the Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies (CAPS) and Harris Insights and Analytics has shown that various demographics, especially Gen Z, have been more resistant to Israeli occupation forces (IOF) propaganda.

The poll shows that 51% of the population aged 18-24 wants Israel “to be ended and given to Hamas and the Palestinians.” About 31% of the 25-34 population wants the same demand.

Meanwhile, a smaller percentage of 32% of the Gen Z population supports a two-state solution, which also sees support from 49% of respondents from those aged 25-34.

About 60% of individuals aged 45 and 54 support the two-state solution, showing an increasing disapproval of the plan as respondents get younger.

Gen Z respondents are also against any attempts of compelling Arab states to absorb Palestinians, with only 17% expressing support for the controversial plan. The plan is also controversial among other age groups, with only 20% of those aged 25-34, and 19% of those aged 25-45 approving of it.

The youngest population of the US have also reflected their stances against the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression, with as many as 60% viewing what Israel has been doing in Gaza as a genocide, with only 40% supporting Israel’s self-proclaimed self defense claims.

Of the pool of respondents aged 25-34, 56% also viewed Israel’s action as a genocide, with 45% of those aged 35-44 sharing that same view.

Additionally, 76% of Gen Z respondents believe that Hamas can be negotiated with to create peace in the region, with the view also shared by most respondents aged 25-34 (52%) and 35-44 (52%).

The Gen Z population also expressed support for an immediate end of Israeli aggression with 57%, while other age groups showed more split votes.

For instance, 49% of respondents aged 25-34 wanted Israel to immediately cease hostilities, with 51% disagreeing.

Furthermore, the 35-44 age group had a 50/50 split on the topic.

The majority of Gen Z respondents  (67%) supported an unconditional ceasefire that would leave everyone in place, while other age groups leaned towards a ceasefire after the release of hostages.

Over 60% of Gen Z respondents believe that Hamas is supported by the majority of Palestinians in Gaza, while 42% of them also want the resistance group to run the region following the devastating war. 58% of the young respondents oppose this plan.

Most are not in favor of a potential Israeli administration of Gaza, either. Only 36% of people aged between 25-34 expressed support for an Israeli administration, while 41% of respondents aged between 18-24 said that the region  should be administered by the Palestinian authority.

The Gen Z respondents also said Israel is responsible for the humanitarian crisis due to its blockade and restrictions hindering humanitarian aid flow to the affected destinations, with 51% expressing this view.
