Rabat – Moroccan football player Sakina Ouzraoui has been crowned the best female player of Maghrebi origin in the Belgian Women’s Pro League.
Zraoui, who plays for Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, has solidified her position as one of the league’s standout players.
The player was born in Barcelona in August 2001. She initially ventured into gymnastics during her early childhood years. However, her path veered towards football when she relocated to the Belgian capital, Brussels.
She commenced her sporting journey with “RWDM Girls” team in 2018. She then moved to Racing Anderlecht, amassing an impressive record of 59 matches until 2022.
She then joined Club Brugge for the 2022/2023 season before making a return to her team, Anderlecht, in August 2023.
Zraoui made her debut with the Moroccan national women’s football team in August 2022 after participating in a training camp with the Lionesses at Mohammed VI Complex.
She played her debut match with Morocco against the Polish national team in Cadiz, Spain, in October 2022.
In addition, Zraoui played alongside the Atlas Lionesses in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Her contribution was pivotal in the team’s historic qualification for the second round of the tournament.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup marked the Moroccan team’s first-ever participation in the global tournament.
In addition to Zraoui, Moroccan footballer Nabil El Khanouss was named the best player of Maghrebi origin in the Belgian Pro League.
