Rabat – Legally there is no Moroccan without healthcare; every citizen is covered by the three types of plans that the state is offering, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, said in a televised interview on Sunday.
“The first healthcare plan is for socially disadvantaged people with low purchasing power, which is AMO Solidarity, the second plan is for workers without wages AMO TNS, and workers with wages who have AMO Salary,” Ait Taleb said.
The minister added that the significant strides Morocco has made in expanding access to healthcare reflects national solidarity, saying that “extending social and health coverage is part of a broader commitment to ensure that every Moroccan has access to necessary healthcare, regardless of their economic status.”
In January 2023, the government announced that the number of Moroccans working in the unregulated economy and free trade, who have access to social benefits including health coverage, went from 7.8 million to 23.2 million in 2022.
Meanwhile, the number of citizens who gained access to health coverage (AMO) stood at 9.4 million.
The increase in the number of citizens with access to healthcare echoes the rise in the number of filings the CNSS received for healthcare-related reimbursements, the head of government pointed out.
The number of fillings from individuals in the shadow economy exceeded 640,000 in 2022, with 53,400 of the number of fillings taking place in December alone.
In addition to boosting access to healthcare coverage, CNSS has equally worked to facilitate access to its services by opening new agencies. In 2022, CNSS opened 47 additional local agencies, launched 45 mobile agencies, and created 8,000 communication centers to register new workers.
CNSS equally built a network of 2,000 points for workers to file for healthcare-related reimbursement files.
