Rabat – Rumors around Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri’s possible departure from Sevilla FC have been circulating since his return from the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Moroccan international’s four-year journey with Sevilla is coming to an end and “the countdown is on for Youssef En-Nesyri,” Spanish sports outlet AS recently reported.
As the 26-year-old player’s contract with the Andalusian club expires in June 2025, its extension remains doubtful, and this may be his final season in the Spanish league.
The Moroccan’s outstanding performances in La Liga, the top-tier Spanish football league, have attracted interest from several elite European clubs.
The English Premier League team West Ham United, which is home to Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd, is one of the European teams that has expressed interest in En-Nesyri. However, AS reported that the Moroccan striker has rejected the English club’s offer.
Talk of AC Milan seeking to sign En-Nesyri has also surfaced recently, as the Italian club seeks to give its team a boost this summer. AC Milan’s interest in the Moroccan forward comes as striker Olivier Giroud’s contract is set to expire.
In addition, there have been reports that En-Nesyri will reunite with his teammate Yassine Bounou at Al-Hilal, which currently tops the Saudi Pro League table. Since last year, the Saudi club has been keeping an eye on the player.
En-Nesyri is currently part of Morocco’s training camp for friendlies ahead of this summer’s AFCON qualifiers. Last week, the Moroccan squad defeated Angola 1-0, and they will take on their Mauritanian counterpart today at the Adrar stadium in Agadir at 10 p.m.
