Rabat – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Morocco and tech giant Microsoft organized a roundtable discussion today in Casablanca under the theme “AI Morocco: Meeting the Opportunity.”

Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy Aimee Cutrona

The goal of this event was to provide a lively forum where professionals from the public and private sectors, along with researchers and specialists in AI, could delve deeply into the current state of artificial intelligence in Morocco.

While exploring AI’s potential, challenges, and significant effects on the economy and society, the event organizers set some objectives to fulfill.

Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour

According to Rabia Al Alama, Managing Director at AmCham Morocco, these objectives include highlighting the accomplishments and efforts that are advancing Morocco’s AI ecosystem.

Other objectives include the identification of the gaps and obstacles while analyzing the societal and economic effects, as well as exchanging best practices and insights gained from the development and application of AI worldwide.

In addition, a panel discussion featuring suggestions and methods for promoting inclusive and accountable AI governance in Morocco is planned later today to encourage communication between experts in the public and private sectors.

This event comes as AI keeps advancing inexorably in Morocco, with the North African country making notable strides in the field as it prepares to be a part of the global conversation around what some experts have described as the Fifth Industrial Revolution.
