Rabat – Head Coach of RS Berkane Mouin Chaabani expressed the Moroccan club’s readiness ahead of their match against Egyptian club Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup final.
The second leg of the much-anticipated game is set to take place on Sunday at Cairo International Stadium.
In a press conference held on Saturday, Chaabani highlighted that RS Berkane has prepared for all potential scenarios that could unfold during the match.
“As a coach, you must have a plan A and a plan B, and be prepared for any unexpected events during the game, such as a red card or an injury to a player,” Chaabani said.
Highlighting his team’s capabilities and recent victories, he said that RS Berkane has what it takes to win the tournament title.
“RS Berkane has the necessary abilities to manage the game effectively. We have shone in this competition in recent years, and we have a group of international players who are accustomed to playing against top teams in Morocco with large fan bases,” he said.
Noting the importance of respecting their opponent, Chaabani declined to respond to comments made by Zamalek’s Portuguese coach, José Gomes, who suggested that his Zamalek squad is a superior team compared to RS Berkane.
“I am surprised by this statement. We won the first leg against Zamalek, but it is important to respect the opponent,” Chaabani stressed.
He noted that Pyramids FC is currently at the top of the Egyptian league, while Future FC is one of the best teams participating in the Confederation Cup. “Nonetheless, we respect our opponent regardless of their perceived value,” Chaabani concluded.
