Spain Arrests ISIS-Affiliated Suspect with Help from Moroccan Intelligence

The suspect faces charges of integrating a terrorist organization, recruitment, indoctrination, and glorification of terrorism, according to a statement from the Spanish police.

The investigation revealed that the individual was actively producing and disseminating pro-ISIS propaganda. In recent weeks, there has been a marked increase in both the volume and radical nature of his publications.

Authorities reported that the suspect had created his own jihadist materials, which he openly shared on social media platforms.

The suspect’s activity placed him in regular contact with other individuals previously arrested for jihadist terrorism in Spain and Morocco, as well as with foreign fighters in the conflict zones of Syria and Iraq, according to reports.

The news came on the same day that Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested four ISIS-affiliated suspects for their alleged involvement in plotting terrorist operations targeting Morocco.

A statement from BCIJ explained that the arrests took place in separate simultaneous operations in the cities of Sale, Tangier, and Tetouan.

After raiding the suspects’ residence, BCIJs found electronic equipment and weapons, as well as an ISIS flag.

BCIJ also found publications on making and assembling explosive devices.

The preliminary investigation shows that the suspects, aged between 21 and 41, were planning “extremely dangerous terrorist projects targeting vital and sensitive” areas and buildings across Morocco.

The statement added that the suspects effectively engaged in the preparation of the terrorist plots and identified their targets.

They also established links with ISIS leaders operating abroad to receive support and collect payment for the operations after their execution in Morocco.
