Marrakech – The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) held a gathering on Wednesday to celebrate the Moroccan athletes and their coaches who will represent the country at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

The event was attended by Faïçal Laraichi, President of the CNOM, members of the executive committee, representatives from the Ministry of Sports, and Presidents of the relevant Moroccan Royal Federations.

The Moroccan Olympic delegation was presented during the meeting. In addition, the CNOM presented the logistical and organizational arrangements put in place to ensure Moroccans’ successful participation in the Games.

The Moroccan delegation will consist of 60 athletes, including 18 women (30%) and 42 men (70%), representing 19 sports disciplines.

Among the athletes, 64% will be making their first Olympic appearance, while 29% and 7% will be participating in their second and third Olympics, respectively. The delegation will also include 44 coaches and support staff.

As part of its support for the athletes, the CNOM has signed 48 conventions, providing assistance to 299 athletes and 178 coaches. This includes funding for 337 training camps (4,517 days) and 560 competitions (3,281 days).

Additionally, the CNOM finances sports equipment, medical support, mental health support, nutritional guidance, performance bonuses, communication, and logistics for the delegation’s participation in the Games.

In September 2022, the CNOM launched an Olympic scholarship program to provide additional financial support to eligible athletes. The program offers monthly scholarships ranging from MAD 3,500 to 10,000, depending on the athlete’s category.

The CNOM has also established performance bonuses for the Paris 2024 Games, with gold, silver, and bronze medalists in individual events set to receive MAD 2,000,000, MAD 1,250,000, and MAD 750,000, respectively.

Bonuses for group and team events range from MAD 400,000 to 1,000,000. Athletes who set world or Olympic records will be awarded an additional MAD 1,000,000 or 500,000, respectively. National coaches of medaling athletes will receive 50% of the athlete’s bonus.

The CNOM has also provided the delegation with parade uniforms and general sports equipment to ensure they are well-prepared for the Games. The teams at the CNOM strongly encouraged the athletes to give their best and represent Morocco with dignity during the gathering.

As the Moroccan Olympic team prepares for the Paris 2024 Games, the nation rallies behind them, hoping for a successful and memorable performance on the world stage.
