Rabat – Binter airline has announced the resumption of its direct flights between Essaouira and Gran Canaria on Saturday.
The flights will operate on Saturday until mid-September, offering a 22% increase in capacity compared to the previous year.
Binter’s communication officer Borja Bethencourt expressed to the press satisfaction with the resumption of the flight, noting its importance in boosting tourism and economic exchanges between the two regions.
He said that the airline offers 22.2% more seats compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 1,573 seats available on the air route.
“This initiative has been made possible thanks to Binter’s exceptional relationship with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT),” he remarked. He added that it is part of the “implementation of a collaboration agreement between the two parties aimed at strengthening their commitment to tourism recovery and connectivity with the Canary Islands.”
Abdelmounaim Aoutoul, commander of the Essaouira International Airport, told the press that the new link aims to strengthen the air service offering at the airport.
“Essaouira-Mogador International Airport is considered one of the important aviation infrastructures in the Kingdom and plays a central role in the economic and tourism development of Essaouira and the Marrakechp-Safi region, enhancing the attractiveness of this part of the national territory on both national and international levels,” Aoutoul said.
The airport terminal covers an area of 3,000 square meters, with a capacity to accommodate up to 300,000 passengers per year.
This year, Binter launched their “Discover Stopover” option for residents in Essaouira who seek to combine two trips in one.
The offer makes it possible for customers to visit three or more Canary Islands through the AirPass available on the airline’s website.
In July, August, and September, the airline will also boost its connections with Agadir with a second weekly flight.
