Rabat- Moroccan attacking midfielder Anass Zaroury has signed a contract with Ligue 1 football club Racing Club de Lens, extending until 2028.
The 23-year-old Moroccan international joins Lens after two successful seasons with Burnley FC.
According to Foot Mercato, the transfer fee is around MAD 56 million (5 million euros), with an additional MAD 22.4 million (2 million euros) in potential add-ons.
“With Anass Zaroury, Racing adds a new asset to its lineup! The dynamic and unpredictable winger, who has 4 international caps for Morocco, has signed with Racing for the next four seasons,” the French club announced in a statement. “Known for his precise shots and brilliant passes, the new Lens player aims to achieve consistency while wearing the blood and gold jersey.”
Pierre Dréossi, General Director of RC Lens, added, “Anass is a complete offensive player who can operate in various attacking positions. He has excellent technical skills. His dynamic profile and goal-scoring ability enable him to both initiate and finish plays.”
Zaroury played a crucial role in Burnley’s Championship-winning team for the 2022-2023 season, scoring 11 goals in 39 matches across all competitions.
He came on as a substitute in Burnley’s opening Championship match of this season, resulting in a 4-1 victory against Luton Town. However, he was unavailable for the Clarets’ 5-0 win over Cardiff City due to illness.
The Atlas Lion was also included in the Morocco squad shortly before the 2022 World Cup and featured in the third-place play-off loss to Croatia.
