Rabat – Spain triumphed over Morocco in yesterday’s friendly futsal match, securing their victory with a commanding 4-2.
The teams clashed at the Mohammed VI Complex in Rabat at 7 p.m. local time.
The match was held in preparation for the upcoming Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan. The Spanish futsal team recently traveled to Rabat for a pair of friendly games.
Spain opened the match with a line-up of Jesus Herrero, Tomaz, Miguel Mellado, Adolfito, and Raul Campos —quickly taking the lead within just two minutes.
Morocco, with their precise passing and tactical approach, began to assert control over the game. Despite this, Herrero made a crucial save against Anas El-Ayyane, and a shot from Anas Dahani hit the post.
Just 33 seconds before halftime, Mellado scored on a counter-attack to make it 2-0. Morocco fought back in the second half, with Soufiane El Mesrar pulling one goal back.
However, Adolfito extended Spain’s lead to 3-1 after another Mellado attempt was saved and rebounded to him. A pass from Campos set up Adolfito’s second goal, making it 4-1, before Otmane Boumezou added a final goal to complete the scoring.

Spain’s performance was marked by fluid ball movement and precise passing. The Spanish team, under the guidance of coach Fede Vidal, displayed a high level of technical ability.
Today’s friendly match between Morocco and Spain was a showcase of futsal at its finest. Whether celebrating a win or reflecting on a loss, both teams gained valuable insights from the encounter.
Ahead of today’s match, Spain’s head coach Fede Vidal highlighted the progress of the Moroccan team, telling the press, “Morocco is a team that is improving significantly; they’ve achieved impressive results against strong opponents in recent years.”
The Moroccan squad is also preparing for the Futsal World Cup, where they’ve been placed in Group E with Portugal, Panama, and Tajikistan.
Most recently, Morocco won their third Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Futsal title in April by defeating Angola in the final.
The 2024 Futsal World Cup is scheduled to occur from September 14 to October 6 across the cities of Tashkent, Andijan, and Bukhara in Uzbekistan.
In addition to Morocco, Africa will also be represented by Angola and Libya in this 10th edition of the tournament.
Morocco and Spain will meet again in the same city on Wednesday. Fans can look forward to seeing these teams continue to excel and entertain on the futsal court.
