Rabat– Marrakech police arrested on Friday a 37-year-old French citizen of Algerian descent for his involvement in an alleged drug trafficking case for which an international search warrant had been issued.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect was the subject of an Interpol “red notice” issued by France. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Moroccan authorities to combat drug-related crimes.
A French citizen of Algerian descent, who was residing in Morocco illegally, has been arrested under an international warrant issued by French judicial authorities. He is suspected of being connected to a criminal network involved in the illicit trafficking of drugs and psychoactive substances,” DGSN said in a statement on X.
The accused is alleged to be linked to an international trafficking operation involving cocaine, hashish, and synthetic drugs such as diamorphine and amphetamines.
The arrest was made in close coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
Following his apprehension, the suspect was placed in detention and is awaiting his appearance before the relevant prosecutor’s office. The National Interpol Bureau has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in Paris regarding the arrest.
