Rabat – A recent photograph of King Mohammed VI walking unaided in a Parisian store has ignited widespread celebration among Moroccans.
Shared across social media platforms, the image has drawn messages of relief and happiness from citizens expressing their joy at the monarch´s apparent recovery.
“King Mohammed VI was seen strolling through Paris in a modern and understated style, demonstrating his ability to move freely in public spaces like any other tourist. We thank God that our King is in good health and leads a life of simplicity, far from ostentation, disproving the false narratives some try to spread,” an X user posted.
The sight of the King without his medical cane comes after his earlier apperance using a crutch during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October.
Moroccans have long shown keen interest in their monarch’s well-being. Reports suggest that the King has been dealing with sciatica-related muscle contractions in his lower back.
These symptoms were evident during recent offical engagements, including meetings with newly appointed government officials and regional leaders.
A neurologist explained in an interview with Morocco World News (MWN) that the King’s symptoms, caused by nerve root pressure on the spinal cord, are common and typically resolve quickly with treatment.
The specialist reassured citizens, noting that while the condition can cause noticeable discomfort when walking or standing, it is not a cause for major concern.
This is not the first time that the monarch has been seen using a cane. A similar instance occurred in November 2012, drawing comparable public concern.
However, the latest photo of the King walking unaided has provided a fresh wave of optimism, with many viewing it as a sign of his resilience and improved health.
Some social media users even complimented his laid-back style, saying he has “drip.”
The King’s recovery is not only a personal triumph but also a source of reassurance for Moroccans, who see his leadership as quintessential in navigating the nation’s political and economic challenges.
