During today’s talks, both sides agreed to leverage the strengthened cooperation framework established by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, aiming to bolster their collaboration across various defense sectors.
This collaboration comes on the heels of Macron’s recent state visit to Morocco, where he reiterated France’s full support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Macron’s affirmation that Morocco’s sovereignty represents the only viable framework for genuinely addressing the Sahara question has injected new momentum into bilateral ties, solidifying trust and reinforcing cooperation across strategic domains.
Key points on the agenda included reviewing the achievements of 2024 and planning upcoming joint activities for 2025. The commission underlined the importance of maintaining operational readiness and addressing emerging threats in an increasingly complex security landscape.
In a separate meeting, Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of National Defense Administration, hosted General Burkhard to explore opportunities for expanding their cooperation into cutting-edge fields.
Discussions covered space exploration, artificial intelligence applications for military use, cybersecurity, and defense industry development.
This diversification of collaboration reflects Morocco’s strategic ambition to modernize its defense capabilities and tap into emerging technologies, while France remains a key partner in sharing expertise and resources.
Against the backdrop of growing instability in parts of Africa and heightened global security tensions, the Morocco-France defense partnership serves as a stabilizing force as both countries strive to boost coordination in areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and peacekeeping operations, ensuring their armed forces remain adaptive and effective.
The outcomes of this year’s commission reflect a shared vision to build a resilient, forward-looking partnership capable of meeting the demands of contemporary and future challenges.
As ties continue to deepen, Morocco and France reaffirm their role as pivotal players in promoting security and stability within their respective regions and beyond.
