Rabat – Morocco’s women’s futsal team made history by reaching the final of the first-ever Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2025, currently being held in Rabat. On Monday, April 28, they delivered a dominant performance with a 5-1 win over Angola in the semifinals.

The victory also secured them a place in the upcoming FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, which will take place in the Philippines from November 27 to December 7.

The match, held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, saw Morocco take control early on. Doha El Madani opened the scoring in the 13th minute, but despite Morocco’s strong start, Angola managed to equalize just before halftime, briefly quieting the home crowd.

After the break, Morocco regained momentum. Although they missed a penalty in the 28th minute, they quickly bounced back. Zineb Erroudany scored a powerful goal to restore the lead, and that strike opened the door for a flurry of goals. Jasmine Demraoui extended the lead, El Madani added her second of the match, and Meryem Hajri sealed the win with a fifth goal in the final minute.

This semifinal success follows an impressive group-stage run where Morocco crushed Namibia 8-1 and Cameroon 7-1. Now, with home support and growing confidence, the Atlas Lionesses are set to face Tanzania in the final, who defeated Cameroon 3-2 in the other semifinal.

As they prepare for the championship match, Morocco’s women’s futsal team is on the brink of winning their first-ever continental title — a proud moment in a historic tournament for African women’s futsal.
