Rabat –The National Commission of Health Students (CNEMDP), representing students in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, announced on Wednesday that several of its demands have been addressed. It added, however, that other points are still under negotiation with the Ministries of Health and Higher Education.
In a detailed statement released on July 23, the CNEMDP highlighted that over the past three months, it has engaged in numerous bilateral and joint meetings with both ministries. These discussions have resulted in significant progress and demonstrate a mutual commitment to maintaining dialogue in a calm, constructive, and responsible manner.
The Commission emphasized that it continues to closely monitor the unresolved issues and remains fully dedicated to defending the rights of health students through ongoing responsible negotiation. All parties now await the official publication of the agreements in the Official Bulletin to formalize the outcomes.
The Ministry of Higher Education has officially integrated the 2023-2024 cohort into the new seven-year health training program, a move the CNEMDP praised as significant. The Commission emphasized that this cohort, which actively joined the student movement alongside four other classes, should not face uncertainty between two different education systems.
Following the official publication of this decision in the Official Bulletin on Wednesday, July 23, the CNEMDP commended the collaborative efforts and spirit of responsibility demonstrated by all involved parties.
The Commission also welcomed the publication of the updated pedagogical standards handbook for the pharmacy program. This handbook, reflecting the points agreed upon in the recent reconciliation agreement, was developed in close cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education, student councils, and under the supervision of the Institution of the Mediator.Â
Work is ongoing on a similar handbook for postgraduate studies, assigned to specialized academic teams, with a commitment to publish it promptly once final details are resolved.
Regarding matters with the Ministry of Health, the CNEMDP reported that the latest meetings resulted in an agreement to set the duration of contracts for health students at three years, including the current cohort. Discussions continue about extending this contract duration to previous cohorts, with the draft decree now finalized and awaiting submission to the Government Secretariat for approval.
The Commission further stressed the importance of the retroactive application of increased mission allowances, effective from January 2025. Despite delays in publishing the relevant decree due to ongoing legal procedures, CNEMDP insists that this financial adjustment is crucial for the affected students.
In conclusion, the CNEMDP called for an acceleration of all remaining legal and administrative procedures to ensure timely financial regularization for all impacted cohorts, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to support health students across Morocco.
