Rabat – Moroccan police in Tangier arrested a 26-year-old Danish citizen of Palestinian origin on Tuesday evening. The man was wanted internationally by Danish authorities for a case of intentional murder using a firearm.
According to a security source, the suspect was stopped in Tangier after a police check revealed he was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice. The international arrest order had been issued by the Danish judiciary and circulated by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Copenhagen.
Initial information from the investigation suggests that the suspect is linked to a murder by firearm committed in July 2025 in Tingberg, Denmark.
The man has been placed in police custody in Morocco, pending his referral to the public prosecutor’s office. Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Rabat has also informed its Danish counterpart of the arrest.
Authorities said the operation reflects Morocco’s commitment to international security cooperation, particularly in tracking and arresting suspects wanted for crimes that cross national borders.
His extradition to Denmark is currently under review and will proceed in line with international legal procedures.
Morocco plays an active role in international police operations through its close partnership with Interpol. The country regularly carries out arrests of suspects wanted abroad, working within the framework of Red Notices and bilateral agreements.
These efforts reflect Morocco’s commitment to combating transnational crime, including terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and violent crime.
In recent years, Moroccan security services have gained recognition for their effectiveness in coordinating with international partners.
