Rabat – Ghizlane Chebbak, captain of Morocco’s women’s national football team, has signed with Saudi club Al Hilal for one season.

The club announced on Instagram today that Chebbak will represent Al Hilal until 2026.

In the welcoming video, she said: “I’m Ghizlane. I carve paths through the crowd and turn every moment into a goal.” Her name, which means “deer” in Arabic, reflects her agility and grace on the field.

Her arrival comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in women’s football, attracting top players and coaches. For Chebbak, this move is a chance to share her experience in a new championship while continuing to represent Moroccan football at a high level.

The 35-year-old midfielder continues her international career after playing for Moroccan club AS FAR and Levante Badalona in Spain.

Chebbak is one of the biggest names in Moroccan women’s football. She began her career at AS FAR, where she became captain and won many national and international titles.

Her 2013-2014 season was historic, as she scored 54 goals in just 20 matches, a record in Morocco. She also helped AS FAR win the third-place match in the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023

With the Atlas Lionesses, Chebbak played a key role in Morocco’s rise, especially during the 2022 and 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Morocco reached the final at home.

By joining Al Hilal, Chebbak becomes part of the growing women’s football project in Saudi Arabia.

The country has been investing heavily in its league, which has attracted well-known players, like Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Yassine Bounou, as well as various coaches like Simone Inzaghi.
