Rabat – AS FAR’s women’s team confirmed their dominance in North African football by winning the UNAF tournament on Monday and earned direct qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League final phase.
Moroccan women’s football has grown remarkably in recent years, but much of its success traces back to AS FAR.
The club from the capital boasts an unmatched domestic record, with 12 Botola titles and 12 Throne Cups. The team has also built a strong continental reputation.
The UNAF Women’s Club Championship concluded in Tunisia on Monday. For the third time, AS FAR won the title, finishing at the top of the standings after victories in all their matches.
They opened with a solid 3-1 win over Egypt’s FC Masr, followed by a 4-0 triumph against Algeria’s Afak Relizane. In their final game, they beat Tunisia’s AS Sousse 4-0 to seal the tournament.
The club will represent the country in the CAF Women’s Champions League for the fifth consecutive time. They have participated in every edition since 2021.
In the first edition, they finished third, won the title in 2022, earned bronze in 2023, and narrowly missed the 2024 trophy in a tense final against TP Mazembe, coached by Lamia Boumehdi.
This season, AS FAR aims for a historic treble, pursuing success not only in the CAF Champions League but also in the domestic Botola and Throne Cup.
Their record and ambition place them at the forefront of women’s football in Morocco and North Africa.
