San Siro Sale Edges Closer as Milan and Inter Reach Deal

AC Milan and Inter Milan are one step closer to buying San Siro after reaching an agreement with the City of Milan, according to La Repubblica.

The clubs and city officials, represented by Deputy Mayor Anna Scavuzzo, agreed on the sale following lengthy negotiations. No handshake was made after Monday’s meeting, but sources say this was a strategic move to avoid public exposure before the City Council vote. Sport Minister Abodi also applied pressure on the process.

Key Details of the Deal

The City will now contribute €22m for reclamation and demolition, down from the €36m originally requested by the clubs. This includes:

  • €12m for demolition of the stadium and reconstruction of the Patroclo Tunnel.

  • €9.6m for reclaiming the land, which will become a park and return to city ownership.

AC Milan and Inter will cover the remaining €14m for the partial demolition and conversion. The €22m from the city will be deducted from the €197m sale price.

Next Steps

Scavuzzo will meet the Legality Committee and legal advisors to finalise documents. The City Council is expected to vote on the deal between 25 and 29 September.

If approved, the agreement would clear the way for the new stadium project, bringing one of football’s most famous venues closer to a modern overhaul.
