Azzedine Ounahi has been named in Marca’s La Liga team of the week after shining for Girona against Athletic Bilbao.
The 25-year-old Moroccan opened his scoring account in Spain’s top flight during the draw at San Mamés. His display earned him a spot alongside stars like Mbappé and Vinícius from Real Madrid, Barcelona’s Araujo, and Atlético’s Julian Alvarez and Llorente.

Girona coach Michel Sanchez praised him, saying: “Ounahi is a talented player on the ball, but he is also very smart tactically.”
Ounahi joined Girona from Olympique Marseille on a free transfer worth €6 million and has a contract until June 2030. He’s played three games so far and is already making an impact.
The midfielder has more freedom to move forward and drift behind the strikers. His tricky dribbling and quick one-touch play have made him a constant threat, linking up well and creating chances.
