Rabat – A joint operation between Morocco’s authorities and Senegal’s Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) has led to the dismantling of a major hashish trafficking network operating between Morocco, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau.

According to Senegalese media, the investigation began in Marrakech when Moroccan police discovered 85 kilograms of hashish hidden inside water heaters being transported by a Senegalese national. The discovery prompted authorities to organize a monitored delivery to identify the recipients of the drugs.

On October 13, Senegalese police arrested three men, B. Djaby, M. Baldé, and N. Preira, in the Pikine Technopole area. The suspects were caught with 250 packets of hashish weighing a total of 25 kilograms. The drug was reportedly intended for Guinea-Bissau, where it was to be hidden inside containers of milk powder.

These arrests followed an initial intelligence lead, after authorities discovered 6 kilograms of hashish hidden inside two electric water heaters, one of 80 liters and the other 50 liters, containing 40 and 20 packets of 100 grams each, according to Senegal’s national police.

Investigations led to the arrest of the final recipient, who had come to collect the suspicious packages by vehicle from a warehouse located in Yarakh. After the packages were unloaded into a house in Pikine Technopole, the raid was carried out.

A search carried out at the suspects’ residence led to the seizure of several passports and national identity cards from different countries, including Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Spain, The Gambia, and Afghanistan. Police also found eight sealed milk containers believed to contain other illegal substances, two vehicles, five mobile phones, two checkbooks, and bank cards.

According to investigators, the main organizer behind the operation is believed to be B. L. Tavarez, based in Guinea-Bissau. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full scope of the trafficking network and identify all individuals involved.
