Rabat – Students across Morocco have been asking about delays in the announcement of results for master’s program admissions. Some university departments reported unusual delays and confusion this year following the introduction of new educational regulations.
SNRT News spoke to one department head, who said several master’s programs are still waiting for official approval after minor changes were made to their program descriptions in line with the new rules. Some universities have already listed students eligible for written exams but are holding back from publishing results in case additional adjustments are needed.
A master’s program coordinator told the outlet that while third-semester classes have started, studies for the newly approved master’s programs are still on hold – even two weeks into October. Some colleges delayed opening the application period this year until final approvals were received, only starting to accept applications in early October.
However, not all officials see the situation as a delay. Yassine Zaghloul, president of Hassan First University in Oujda, said there is no disruption in processing approvals. He explained that teaching teams made about 20% adjustments to master’s programs, which were then approved by university committees and councils before being sent to the Ministry.
The National Agency for Evaluation and Quality Assurance studies each file carefully before giving final approval, Zaghloul said. He added that the new program rules were uploaded online at the end of July, and many master’s programs usually start in November, so there is no real delay.
A Ministry official confirmed to SNRT News that the evaluation agency is working as expected, and universities are notified of results once assessments are complete.
The National Agency for Evaluation and Quality Assurance includes management bodies, technical committees, and subject-specific committees. Experts are selected based on their qualifications and are recognized for their competence in training, research, and technical fields.
