Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) signed an agreement with the French insurers’ group, Argos, to develop cooperation and facilitate the search, tracking, and recovery of stolen vehicles.
Abdellatif Hammouchi, the General Director of DGSN-DGST, signed the agreement with the CEO of Argos, Benoit Leclair, in Rabat.
A statement from DGSN said the agreement establishes focal points and official communication channels between DGSN and Argos to facilitate coordination in the search, identification, tracking, and recovery of stolen vehicles.
It also aims to develop training programs in related technical and scientific fields, the statement said, adding that the partnership will allow DGSN’s services to access the Argos database.
The database contains technical data provided by car manufacturers, providing Moroccan police with digital tools to track and locate stolen vehicles.
“This initiative is part of a broader modernization effort launched by the DGSN in recent years to develop and upgrade the criminal investigation methods used by judicial police services,” the statement concluded, noting that the modernization efforts include enhanced use of modern technologies.
The scheme also aims to support police infrastructure, provide advanced material and logistical equipment, and reinforce human resources dedicated to combating crime.
According to DGSN’s annual report last year, Morocco’s Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat tackled several car theft cases across the country.
The bureau processed over 7,000 requests, helping recover 380 stolen vehicles and contributing to 135 arrests through international judicial cooperation.
