Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the 2025 Goal of the Year award, with three Moroccan players making the final list.
Ghizlane Chebbak, Oussama Lamlioui, and Abdellah Ouazane are among the thirteen candidates selected for their standout goals scored between January 6 and October 15, 2025.
Ghizlane Chebbak, captain of Morocco’s women’s national team, earned her nomination for a powerful strike in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Her goal opened the scoring, but the match ultimately ended 3-2 in favor of Nigeria. Despite the loss, Chebbak’s performance was a standout of the tournament and a proud moment for Moroccan women’s football.
Oussama Lamlioui’s nomination comes from his long-range goal in the final of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), held jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Lamlioui scored from midfield against Madagascar, helping Morocco secure a 3-2 victory and the CHAN title.
Abdellah Ouazane, one of Morocco’s rising stars, is recognized for his stunning free kick against Tanzania during the 2025 U17 AFCON.
His goal showcased technical skill and composure, earning him a place among Africa’s top young talents.
Voting for the Goal of the Year award opened on November 6 and will close on November 12, 2025.
Fans can cast their votes through the official platform: cafawardsgoty.com.
According to CAF, fan votes will account for 70% of the final result, with the remaining 30% decided by the organization’s technical panel. This makes it the only CAF award that includes direct public voting.
