Rabat – Lionel Messi has set another record, but this time off the pitch. The Argentine captain shared a series of photos from Camp Nou, the stadium where he spent 17 seasons and won 35 trophies with Barcelona.
The post, taken by teammate Rodrigo De Paul, showed Messi revisiting the place he called home until his departure in 2021.

Within 24 hours, the photos had drawn more than 27.8 million likes and 820,000 comments, pushing the post into the top 20 most popular in Instagram history.
In doing so, Messi surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2019 Nations League celebration post, which reached 23 million likes.
Messi, currently in Eche with Argentina ahead of a friendly against Angola on November 14, wrote that he missed Camp Nou “with all my heart” and hoped to return one day. The message struck a chord with fans, sparking nostalgia and excitement across social media.
This is not the first time Messi has dominated Instagram. His photo lifting the 2022 World Cup trophy remains the most-liked post in the platform’s history, with more than 74 million reactions.
Other entries in the top five include the viral egg photo, Messi sleeping with the trophy, and his Louis Vuitton chess campaign with Ronaldo.
Messi’s latest post adds another chapter to his rivalry with Ronaldo, showing that even away from the field, their competition continues to capture people’s attention.
