Rabat – UM6P CoreLabs, the genetics laboratory of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, has signed a partnership agreement with Oncorad Group to strengthen access to advanced genetic testing nationwide sustainably.
A statement from UM6P said the partnership is part of an operational approach that seeks to integrate medical genetics into “care pathways” and also address the needs of both prescribers and patients.
“For more than four years, Oncorad Group has relied on data derived from genetic tests to adapt therapeutic protocols and implement personalized targeted therapies, in line with international recommendations,” the statement said.
For the UM6P CoreLabs, the initiative will also serve numerous public and private institutions across the country, as well as the group’s own patients.
It acknowledges challenges related to dependence on foreign platforms amid the steady increase in genetic test prescriptions, as well as issues like costs, and others.
To address the situation, the Oncorad Group – a leading player in oncology in Morocco and Africa – has pledged to offer structured local medical genetic services, enabling analysis to be performed in Morocco.
“This capability is based on a high-level scientific and technological setup, made possible today through the specialized infrastructure of UM6P CoreLabs, the UM6P Genetics laboratory,” the statement said.
It will also offer prescribers simplified access to locally performed genetics, with shorter result turnaround times and smoother interpretation of findings.
“The proximity of analyses also strengthens trust in the diagnostic and therapeutic process,” UM6P said, adding that the approach will also help structure a national precision medicine ecosystem.
