Rabat – Achraf Hakimi expressed his joy at returning to the pitch after Morocco’s 3–0 victory over Zambia, a result that secured the Atlas Lions’ first place in Group A and qualification to the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
Hakimi admitted that being back after a long absence felt special. “I missed playing so much, and I am very happy to be back. This match showed the spirit we have been looking for as a team,” he said.
He pointed the atmosphere in the stadium, stressing the crucial role the fans played in the performance. “The game was also great for the supporters. The energy in the stands was exactly what we needed. We will give everything for the national jersey and to make our fans proud of the work we do.”
Hakimi acknowledged that the team had been frustrated after the draw against Mali, but the win over Zambia was proof of their quality. “We were disappointed after Mali, but today we showed the kind of team we are and the kind of team we must continue to be in the future,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Hakimi stressed the importance of consistency and effort. “We are happy with the performance, but we must keep working the same way. This is the path forward.”
