Rabat– Rabat hosted the annual trilateral meeting of police chiefs from Morocco, Spain, and Germany today, reinforcing high-level security cooperation between the three nations.
Abdellatif Hammouchi, General Director of the National Police and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGSN), led the meeting alongside Francisco Pardo Piqueras, General Director of the Spanish National Police, and Dieter Roman, General Director of the German Federal Police.
The meeting is part of an official visit by the Spanish and German delegations to Morocco, running from January 7 to 9 aimed at strengthening operational coordination and intelligence sharing among the three countries.
The trilateral dialogue builds on the first meeting held in Madrid in January 2025, reflecting the three countries’ commitment to institutionalized security coordination.
The discussions focused on enhancing operational and intelligence collaboration on shared priorities, including counterterrorism, illegal migration, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and the coordination of security for major sporting events.Â
Senior officials reviewed regional security developments, particularly in the Sahel and Sahara regions, and assessed their impact on terrorist activity across the Euro-Mediterranean space. The meeting asserted the importance of sustained intelligence sharing and operational coordination to ensure regional and international stability.
The trilateral meeting also explored opportunities to expand cooperation, including joint operational preparedness for upcoming international sporting events, namely the 2030 FIFA World Cup. As part of the program, the Moroccan authorities briefed the visiting delegations on security and safety protocols implemented for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.Â
The visits included the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, where officials demonstrated security arrangements, public safety measures, and the integration of digital technologies into law enforcement operations during football matches.
Additionally, the delegations visited the African Security Cooperation Center, a first-of-its-kind initiative in African football events, which showcases advanced technological capabilities and fosters collaboration between Moroccan security teams and their international counterparts in managing stadium safety and crowd operations.
The statement concluded that these regular trilateral meetings reflect a shared vision of strengthening cross-border security partnerships, emphasizing real-time information exchange, operational collaboration, and technical cooperation among law enforcement agencies of Morocco, Spain, and Germany.
