Rabat—Morocco booked their place in the semi-finals of AFCON 2025 after a controlled 2–0 win over Cameroon in the quarter-finals, delivering a composed performance in front of a packed home crowd.
The Atlas Lions opened the scoring in the 27th minute through Brahim Díaz, who continued his outstanding tournament form. The midfielder struck from close range after a corner was flicked on by Ayoub El Kaabi, marking his fifth goal in five matches at the competition.
Morocco maintained their structure and discipline throughout the first half, limiting Cameroon’s attacking threat while remaining dangerous on set pieces and in transition.
The decisive second goal arrived in the second half, as Ismael Saibari doubled the lead with a left-footed finish at the 74th minute. The move stemmed from a free-kick situation, with Nayef Aguerd providing the decisive pass, allowing Saibari to calmly slot the ball home and put Morocco firmly in control.
Cameroon pushed to respond but struggled to break down Morocco’s organized defense, with the Atlas Lions managing the game effectively in the closing stages.
With the win, Morocco advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of Algeria vs Nigeria, who meet tomorrow. The result confirms Morocco’s status as one of the tournament’s most consistent sides as they move one step closer to continental glory.
