Rabat – Casablanca authorities have detained four people suspected of taking part in violent incidents linked to football rivalries in the Sidi Bernoussi district.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), police carried out the arrests on Wednesday and Thursday, following a targeted investigation by the judicial police.
The probe began after local police received reports of clashes between groups associated with football supporter factions.
These clashes involved the use of bladed weapons and the throwing of stones, placing residents and property at risk.
Videos showing the confrontations circulated widely on social media, prompting authorities to act quickly.
Police investigations, combining technical analysis and on-the-ground inquiries, identified the main suspects.
Four individuals were taken into custody, while searches continue to identify and detain others believed to have participated.
The detained suspects remain under police supervision, and the judicial investigation proceeds under the oversight of the competent public prosecutor.
Authorities stressed their commitment to holding accountable anyone involved in acts that endanger public safety, as football-related disturbances continue to challenge order in Moroccan cities.
