Amrabat Linked With Betis Exit

Real Betis' failure to secure a UEFA Champions League berth and their recent exit from the Europa League may cost Sofyan Amrabat a permanent move to Benito Villamarín.

According to Diario AS, Sofyan Amrabat’s future at Real Betis is looking increasingly precarious. Although head coach Manuel Pellegrini has frequently praised the Moroccan international in public, Amrabat’s inconsistent form since arriving on loan from Fenerbahçe last summer has left his permanent stay in doubt as the season nears its end.

Signed as a vital solution to bolster the midfield following Johnny Cardoso’s high-profile move to Atlético Madrid, Amrabat was a primary target for Pellegrini. However, his tenure in La Liga has been a mix of promising glimpses and underwhelming displays that have failed to fully win over the club’s board.

Betis had initially considered activating a purchase option estimated at around €10 million, but recent developments have cooled that interest. His performance in the recent Europa League quarter-final exit against SC Braga, where he conceded a decisive penalty, has intensified concerns regarding his reliability in high-stakes fixtures

Financial constraints remain the largest obstacle. Amrabat’s salary is high relative to the club’s current wage structure, particularly with Betis likely to miss out on lucrative Champions League revenue next season. Under these circumstances, committing to a permanent deal for the 29-year-old is becoming harder to justify.

Despite these concerns, Amrabat still has the backing of Pellegrini, who values his balance in midfield. The final seven matches of the season could prove decisive, offering the Moroccan a last opportunity to prove he deserves a permanent place in Betis’ plans.
