Agadir – Morocco’s automotive sector exports reached approximately MAD 42 billion ($4.57 billion) by the end of March 2026, according to the latest monthly external trade indicators released by the Foreign Exchange Office.
The data showed a 12.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025, further strengthening the automotive sector’s position as a key pillar of the national economy.
The office attributed this performance primarily to strong growth in two core segments. Exports in the construction segment surged by 23.7% to MAD 16.88 billion ($1.83 billion), while the wiring segment rose by 10.9% to MAD 16.04 billion ($1.74 billion).
The aeronautics sector also posted solid gains, with exports increasing by 12.6% to nearly MAD 8 billion ($871 million). This growth was driven by higher sales in the assembly segment, which rose 18.6%, and a modest 1.6% increase in the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) segment, highlighting the sector’s steady industrial performance.
However, not all export sectors recorded positive results. The Foreign Exchange Office reported declines in several industries, including a 14.1% drop in textile and leather exports, a 7.4% decrease in phosphates and derivatives, a 4.7% fall in electronics and electricity, and a 2.3% contraction in agriculture and agri-food exports.
Despite these mixed performances, Morocco’s overall exports grew by 3.3% at the end of March 2026, surpassing MAD 120.7 billion ($13.1 billion). The figures point to a resilient export structure, with high-value manufacturing sectors continuing to offset weaker performances in traditional industries.
