The Embassy of Morocco in Washington has introduced two practical tools aimed at helping Moroccan supporters prepare for their travel and stay during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco’s Atlas Lions will compete among the world’s top national teams.

In an official statement, the embassy explained that the first tool consists of an informational video outlining the main administrative procedures and providing essential travel advice for Moroccan fans heading to the United States. The second tool is a practical guide gathering key logistical information before departure and during the tournament to ensure supporters enjoy the global event under the best possible conditions.

The explanatory video, presented by Ambassador Youssef Amrani, offers a detailed overview of travel arrangements for Moroccan fans, including guidance related to transportation, accommodation, consular procedures and safety measures during their stay in the United States.

Documents and requirements

According to the guide, supporters planning to attend the World Cup should prepare several important documents and requirements ahead of the tournament, including obtaining a FIFA Fan Pass, purchasing match tickets, applying for a U.S. visa, booking flights and accommodation, securing travel insurance and respecting restrictions on prohibited items.

The embassy also detailed the process of obtaining a U.S. B1/B2 visa. Moroccan fans are advised to complete the DS-160 application form carefully and keep the confirmation number before paying the non-refundable visa fee and scheduling an interview appointment at the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca. The guide stresses the importance of attending the interview with all required documents and complying with security procedures.

Transportation

Regarding flights, the guide highlights several travel options connecting Morocco to major American cities. These include direct Casablanca-New York flights operated by Royal Air Maroc, Marrakech-New York routes through United Airlines and new seasonal flights to Atlanta via Delta Air Lines. Additional indirect routes through transit hubs in Europe and North America are also available.

For domestic transportation inside the United States, the guide recommends several alternatives, including ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft, alongside public transportation systems, shuttle buses and car rental services. The embassy noted that renting a vehicle may require a valid driver’s license, a credit card and, in some cases, an international driving permit.

The guide further encourages supporters to book accommodation early to avoid rising prices during the tournament, whether through hotels, travel agencies or online booking platforms.

Financially

On the financial side, the embassy reminded travelers to respect U.S. customs regulations, particularly the obligation to declare amounts exceeding $10,000 upon entering or leaving the country.

The guide also recommends carrying internationally accepted payment cards while remaining aware of possible international transaction fees.

Health

The embassy additionally urged fans to purchase comprehensive health travel insurance covering emergency medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation if necessary. Travelers are advised to keep both digital and printed copies of their insurance documents.

Consular support

As part of its consular support plan during the World Cup, the Moroccan Embassy in Washington announced the deployment of mobile consulates in host cities, along with emergency phone lines and dedicated assistance services in Washington, New York and Miami to support Moroccan fans throughout the tournament.
