Rabat  – The Var Assize Court is set to announce its verdict today in the alleged rape case involving Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred, according to AFP.

The verdict will be delivered behind closed doors. The verdict reportedly started at 9 a.m this morning, with the jury possibly withdrawing to deliberate in the early afternoon.

The hearing opened on Monday and concluded on Wednesday. Lamjarred faces accusations from a woman who alleges he raped her—an allegation the singer has denied.

Earlier this week, Lamjarred reiterated his denial, stating that the encounter he had with the woman was consensual.

However, the alleged victim claimed Lamjarred took her to his room in 2018, tried to kiss her, and forced her into bed to allegedly rape her.

This is the second alleged rape case Lamjarred is facing in France.

The Paris Assize Court also sentenced him to six years in prison in 2023 for his alleged invovled in the rae case against another woman, whom he met in a nightclub in Paris.

Laura P. accused him of alleged rape in 2016 in a hotel room. He, however, denied the accusations and appealed the case.

Saad Lamjarred is famous in Morocco and the Arab world. With over 15.1 million Instagram followers, the singer has different renowned songs in the Arab world and beyond.

He released different music during his career, including Mil Awel Dekika featuring superstar Elissa, as well as Mal Hbibi, Guli Mata, Casablanca, Enta Maalem, and more.

His newly released song Bezaf received more than 28.2 million views.
