Rabat – The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is hosting the 4th International RD20 Summer School from May 17-23 at its Benguerir campus.
UM6P is organizing the RD20 summer school in collaboration with the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials for Sustainable Energy Technologies (LIMSET) and RD20.
The summer school brings together senior scientists, leading experts, and keynote speakers, covering the most critical topics shaping the future of clean energy.
The goal is to create a bridge between early-career researchers and senior leaders in the fields to establish relationships for future collaboration, according to UM6P.
The summer school program covers various themes, including renewable energy solutions, a workshop on advancing battery energy storage, and panel discussions on sustainability transitions, among others.

Abdelilah Slaoui, Scientific Deputy Director in charge of Energy at France’s National Research Center (CNRS), expressed satisfaction with similar initiatives in a statement to Morocco World News (MWN), where he described the summer school as a key platform bringing together young researchers from around the world.

“I am very pleased to be here, attending this summer school, which is extremely important to bring young researchers from all over the world,” he told MWN, congratulating UM6P for hosting similar events that are not only important for Morocco or Africa but also for the world.
He emphasized that the participants come especially from G20 countries to exchange knowledge and gain exposure to cutting-edge developments in renewable and sustainable energy technologies.
The summer school serves as a unique opportunity to connect emerging scientists with leading experts in the field, fostering collaboration and innovation in global energy research, he elaborated.

Noriko Yoshizawa, Principal Research Manager at Japan’s AIST and Chief Secretariat of RD20, also stressed the significance of the 4th International RD20 Summer School, while appreciating Morocco’s role in hosting the event.
She described the event as a major international gathering dedicated to advancing research and collaboration in clean energy and carbon neutrality.

“We like to foster young researchers and students through this summer school,” she said, congratulating Morocco on hosting such a big event.
The RD20 Summer School was created to support the next generation of researchers and students working on emerging technologies linked to carbon neutrality and sustainable development, the researcher said.
