Rabat – Morocco’s Directorate of National Meteorology (DGM) has warned of a significant rise in temperatures starting Wednesday and continuing throughout the rest of the week, with hot weather expected in several regions across the country.

Temperatures will increase noticeably from midweek, bringing relatively hot to hot conditions in many areas. The heat will mainly affect inland plains, the Souss region, the south-east, and the southern parts of the country. Authorities are urging the public to take precautions, especially as temperatures are expected to peak later in the week.

Weather conditions will already feel warmer on Tuesday, with relatively hot to hot weather in inland plains, Souss, the south-east, and the far south.

Daytime temperatures will range between 34°C and 39°C in Souss, the south-east, and southern desert areas, while most other regions will see temperatures between 27°C and 33°C. Cooler conditions will remain in mountainous and coastal zones.

Temperatures are expected to rise further on Wednesday, expanding the hot conditions to include northern and central plains as well as western regions of the Atlas mountains.

Thursday is expected to mark the peak of the heatwave, with a noticeable increase in temperatures across most parts of the country. Hot conditions will continue in northern and central plains, regions west of the Atlas, Souss, the south-east, and southern provinces. Stronger winds may affect Tangier, Anti-Atlas, and southern desert areas, sometimes carrying dust.

Hot weather is expected to persist from Friday into the weekend, especially in western plains, Souss, and southern regions. Temperatures are likely to remain high through Saturday before a slight and gradual decrease is expected starting Sunday.

Authorities have advised citizens to drink plenty of water, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and pay special attention to children, the elderly, and people with health conditions. They also encouraged the public to follow official weather updates.
