Rabat – Morocco will face Egypt on Tuesday in the final matchday of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations group stage.

The match is one of the biggest North African youth derbies of the tournament. The host nation, Morocco, enters the fixture looking to keep their campaign on track in front of home supporters, while the Egyptian squad aims to demolish the home advantage and stake their claim on the continental crown.

With both teams deadlocked on points, the winner of this final group fixture will automatically capture first place in Group A.

More importantly, because the tournament serves as Africa’s qualifying pathway to the expanded FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026, reaching the quarter-finals guarantees an automatic ticket to the global stage.

Morocco team news

The host nation, Atlas Cubs, remains undefeated in Group A. They opened their tournament with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tunisia. They followed it up on Matchday 2 with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Ethiopia, putting them in an excellent position to progress.

Egypt team news

The Young Pharaohs boast an identical record to their hosts, also sitting on four points after two matches. After a cagey start to the tournament, a vital victory over Tunisia put them level with Morocco at the peak of the standings, turning this final match into a direct shootout for the crown.

What to expect

This final group fixture will develop into an intense, tactical match between two teams that are statistically the same. With both teams tied at 4 points, there is much more at stake than just tournament standings.

Winning guarantees first place in Group A. But with World Cup spots going to all eight quarter-finalists, neither team can afford a slip-up. A draw could actually send both through safely. Still, Morocco wants a big statement win for their home fans, while Egypt will be waiting to punish them if they get too aggressive.

Prediction: Morocco 1-0 Egypt.
