Alexandre Santos has raised the need for belief ahead of AS FAR’s CAF Champions League second leg against Mamelodi Sundowns, insisting the Moroccan side still has what it takes to complete a comeback and fight for continental glory.
Despite lagging by one goal in Pretoria, the Portuguese tactician once again showed confidence in his squad, insisting on their ability to flip the game and snatch the title on home soil.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference earlier today, Santos admitted that the challenge ahead remains difficult against one of Africa’s giants. However, he emphasized the importance of belief heading into Sunday’s showdown, revealing that confidence inside the dressing room remains stronger than ever.
“This is the final match of the Champions League campaign, and I’m proud to be here with my players,” Santos stated.
“Even if we are one goal behind, we fully trust ourselves. We have huge determination and strong ambition to turn things around and deliver a big performance.” In front of a packed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, AS FAR will rely on home support to overturn the one goal deficit. In hope to pull off a remontada in a night that could go down in the history books.
From being a domestic powerhouse, to now standing ninety minutes away from continental glory, dreams remain alive for a triumph that would go beyond the capital, to reach Moroccan football as a whole.
