Morocco has begun a key administrative phase ahead of its next legislative elections, with authorities setting a one-month window for citizens to register or update their details on the electoral lists.
The Interior Ministry said new registration requests will be accepted from May 15 to June 13, as part of the broader revision of electoral rolls before the September 23 vote for the House of Representatives.
The move follows the publication of a ministerial decree in the Official Bulletin in late April, which lays out the timeline and procedures for this nationwide update.
Authorities address two groups in particular. First, citizens who have never registered but meet the legal criteria, including those who will turn 18 by election day. Second, voters whose living situation has changed.
For those who have moved to a different commune or district, the ministry asks them to request a transfer so their registration reflects their current place of residence. Others who changed address within the same area must update their information within the same timeframe.
The process remains accessible through both digital and in-person channels. Citizens can submit requests through the official electoral portal or visit offices designated by local authorities.
The ministry also urges voters to verify their status before the deadline. A simple SMS to the toll-free number 2727 or a quick check online allows citizens to confirm whether their names appear on the current lists.
If a name does not appear, authorities advise immediate action. A new request must be filed before June 13 to ensure eligibility for the upcoming vote.
This revision phase plays a central role in the electoral calendar, as it determines who will be able to take part in choosing the next composition of Morocco’s lower house.
