Meknes – Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri is facing a sudden end to his time at Al-Ittihad after reports showed that the Jeddah-based club no longer needs him and plans offload him during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Saudi news outlet Okaz, the Moroccan striker is no longer in the team’s plans. The club is said to be looking to sell the Moroccan striker this summer and sign a forward they believe can help them in local and continental competitions next season, Okaz added.
Al-Ittihad signed the 28-year-old player from Turkish club Fenerbahce last January on a deal that is supposed to run until 2028. The Moroccan striker was brought in during the winter transfer window to replace French star Karim Benzema, who had moved to Al-Hilal.
En-Nesyri’s short spell with Al-Ittihad includes 6 goals across 14 appearances in all competitions since January. Despite reaching a personal milestone of 100 professional league goals during his time in Saudi Arabia, his performance has not been enough to secure his place in the team’s long-term plans.
Before moving to Saudi Arabia, En-Nesyri had a highly successful career in Europe, especially with Sevilla, where he won two Europa League titles and became the highest-scoring Moroccan in La Liga history. Now that Al-Ittihad reportedly wants to sell him, several European clubs are expected to follow his situation closely this summer.
The Morocco international was also left out of the 2026 World Cup squad national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi announced on Tuesday.
Ouahbi confirmed the decision was tactical rather than due to injury, explaining that he did not want to carry too many strikers in the team. However, the coach also emphasized that they would keep monitoring the forward in case he is needed in the future.
