Agadir – The United Kingdom sees Morocco as a “land of opportunity” and aims to double the volume of bilateral trade with the country over the next five to seven years, British Minister of State for International Trade and Trade Policy Chris Bryant said today following talks with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat.

The meeting took place during Bryant’s official visit to Morocco, where he is participating in the Morocco-UK Business Forum alongside a delegation of around 50 British companies specializing in the organization of major international sporting events.

“Nasser Bourita held talks on Tuesday in Rabat with Mr. Chris Bryant, the UK Minister of State for International Trade and Trade Policy at the Department for Business and Trade,” Morocco’s foreign affairs ministry said in a statement on X.

Speaking after the meeting, Bryant highlighted the growing economic ties between the two countries, noting that “trade between Morocco and the United Kingdom currently stands at approximately £4.5 billion.”

The British official expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, stressing that the UK hopes to “double this volume within the next five to seven years.”

As Morocco prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Bryant also underscored Britain’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Morocco in organizing major international sporting events.

He said the United Kingdom wishes to work alongside Morocco as a strategic partner to help ensure the success of the global tournament.

The British delegation’s visit comes as Morocco and the United Kingdom continue to deepen their economic and political partnership. The two countries are also expected to hold the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council.

It notably coincides with the Morocco-UK Business Forum, which opened in Rabat on Tuesday and brought together around 50 British companies, Moroccan officials, and local business leaders.

The UK delegation includes firms specializing in sports infrastructure, engineering, project management, venue operations, digital technologies, security services, and event management.

The forum reflects growing British interest in Morocco’s large-scale investment programs tied to the 2030 World Cup and broader national development projects.

British officials and businesses have increasingly highlighted opportunities stemming from Morocco’s ongoing investments in transportation networks, stadiums, tourism infrastructure, urban development, and public services.
