Agadir – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has launched a security system for sporting events today, upgrading stadium surveillance tools to combat hooliganism and violence in sports venues.
The initiative was presented during a working meeting held today at the new headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security in Rabat, chaired by the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi.
The meeting focused on the importance of integrating sports security systems designed to modernize stadium control mechanisms and reinforce prevention and response capabilities during high-risk matches.
The new system emphasized on advancing technological tools, including surveillance cameras and drones, intended to improve real-time monitoring of stadiums and surrounding areas.
These tools are expected to strengthen situational awareness, support rapid decision-making, and enhance the detection of potential security incidents before they escalate.
The upgraded protocol also introduces reinforced coordination mechanisms between different security units, including public safety services, criminal investigation teams, and intelligence departments.
The aim is to ensure seamless data sharing and operational synchronization during sporting events, particularly in high-attendance or high-risk matches.
The new system is designed to be risk-sensitive, allowing security deployments to be adjusted depending on the profile and potential risks of each match. Specialized intervention units may be mobilized when necessary to ensure order and public safety inside and outside stadiums.
The meeting also reviewed lessons learned from previous major sporting events hosted in Morocco, with officials emphasizing the need to consolidate operational experience and integrate it into standardized procedures across all venues.
The DGSN stated that the reform reflects a broader effort to modernize national sports security frameworks and align them with international standards, while reinforcing Morocco’s capacity to safely host major sporting events.
