Rabat – Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi insisted his team’s full focus is on reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals, regardless of who they face in the quarter-finals.
Speaking after Morocco’s 3-0 victory over Canada and qualification for the last eight, Ouahbi said it is too early to think about a possible meeting with France.
“It is not certain that we will play against France because they have not qualified yet. Whatever happens, we must be prepared and ready. Whoever the opponent is, our goal remains the same: to reach the semi-finals. So, we will focus on ourselves.”
Ouahbi also dismissed suggestions that Morocco would be seeking revenge if they meet France, who defeated the Atlas Lions in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
“There is no revenge. We only want to continue our journey. And if we are going to talk about revenge, then Paraguay would also be looking for revenge against us if they qualify, because we beat them in a friendly match.”
Morocco will now wait to learn their quarter-final opponent, with either France or Paraguay standing between the Atlas Lions and a second consecutive FIFA World Cup semi-final appearance.
