Rabat – Inter Milan are reportedly prepared to increase their offer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence after his spectacular performance with England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup strengthened the club’s belief that he is the ideal fit for Cristian Chivu’s tactics.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A giants are now considering matching Tottenham’s reported £30 million asking price as they seek to win the summer transfer target.
Following Spence’s amazing season with Tottenham and his national team, Intern have decided to strengthen their wing-back position with the player’s impressive talent.
The 25-year-old’s defensive awareness and ability to play on both sides of the pitch have reportedly convinced Inter’s recruitment team that he can thrive in Chivu’s high-intensity tactical setup.
Club president Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio want to finish the deal as soon as possible, fearing Spence’s performances on football’s biggest stage could attract interest from other European clubs.
Inter’s pursuit has the full backing of Chivu, who reportedly views Spence as a long-term solution following the departure of Dutch international Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid earlier this summer.
While negotiations have yet to reach an advanced stage, the shift in Inter’s financial approach highlights the importance they place on signing the England defender.
With interest growing across Europe, Inter know waiting too long could make landing Spence an even more difficult task.
